Choreographer, visual and performance artist
The works of Helsinki-based artist Lin Da (they/them) invite the audience to imagine with the human body. Lin creates exhibitions and performances independently and in collaboration with artists from different fields. Their conceptual approach encourages the public to wonder with the artwork. Lin composes accurate, sensitive and unique explorations that call the public to be with their perceiving body-minds.
Lin works between choreography, dance, visual arts and performance art. They utilize a wide range of techniques and approaches in their process-oriented practice. Lin’s praxis integrates knowledge of various kinds from body-mind methods to conversations with peers and reading of academic texts.
The venues and contexts of Lin’s works are diverse: they have been displayed and exhibited in private residences, public urban spaces, galleries and stage spaces. Several works from their Aukeama – Opening space (2023) installation are part of the Saastamoinen Foundation’s collection and group exhibition called Dialogues in the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA).

As a convener
I enjoy bringing people together and planning how to do it in the best possible way I can. Being a convener is a continuous learning experience which I take seriously. I want to work in conditions that make the parties involved feel safe (me included) to explore the things we have chosen to be with.

As a collaborator
I’m curious towards other people’s practices. Until now I have work as a performer and mentor in several projects. Supporting art processes is a meaningful part of my artistic journey where I often also learn about my own practice.

As a teacher
I have over ten years experience in facilitating body-mind classes. As an instructor of movement classes (Pilates, Yin Yoga, Dance) I am interested in creating a space for mutual learning, curiosity and continuous listening of oneself. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and ages.
